A team from the Sierra Leone High Commission, led by Head of Chancery, Winston Yankuba, on Sunday (14/05/2023) attended the Sierra Leone Fellowship event at the Walworth Road Methodist Church in Southeast London.

The occasion, which was organized by the Methodist Church, in honour of its vibrant Sierra Leonean membership, was held in celebratory commemoration of Sierra Leone’s 62nd Independence Anniversary. The Independence, which was officially marked on the 27th of April, is traditionally celebrated, around the world, by Sierra Leoneans who come together to give thanks to God and sing His praises, in recognition of what the Almighty continues to do for the small but beautiful West African country.

Held under the Distinguished Grand Chief Patronage of Mr. and Mrs. Edmond Bascho-George, the occasion attracted many Sierra Leoneans and a large crop of distinguished personalities from across the spread of the London community, including Ms. Daphne Jones, Mr. Horace Nicol-Dundas, Mrs. Michelle Toll, and Miss Ernesta Redwood-Sawyer. On the organ were Collins Pratt, Hilton Richards, James Thorpe and Vidal Sumner.

The Gospel Reading, Luke 15 Vs. 1-10, was done by Mr. Edmond Bascho-George who preached about the parable of Lost Sheep and the Parable of the Lost Coin.

The Sermon was conducted by Rev. Lansford Penn-Timity.
