On Sunday 9th May 2021, the Sierra Leone High Commission in London was involved in a two-pronged religious engagement with Sierra Leonean Christians and Muslims resident in London.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the morning the High Commissioner, HE Dr. Morie Manyeh, delivered a special Bible reading and a short speech during the virtual Sierra Leonean annual thanksgiving service at the Walworth road Methodist Church in South East London.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the evening of that same day, the Deputy High Commissioner, Mrs. Yvonne King and a team of embassy staff and other patriotic Sierra Leoneans were out distributing \u2018IFTAR\u2019 gifts to members of two mosques frequented by, predominantly, Sierra Leonean Muslim faithfuls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a move that was warmly welcomed by the recipients, the High Commission donated a quantity of food items to worshippers at the two mosques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First stop was the Peckam Centre Mosque where the team from the High Commision met with the faithfuls who expressed their delight and offered prayers for the leadership of the country and for the progress of the nation. Speaking on behalf of the High Commision and, by extension, the government of Sierra Leone, Mrs. Yvonne King, the Deputy High Commissioner extended greetings from the High Commissioner, HE Dr. Morie Manyeh and called for national unity and the promotion of positive patriotism amongst Sierra Leoneans of all faiths and denominations. The Deputy High Commissioner\u2019s emphasis on the beauty of the religious tolerance in Sierra Leone as a coveted badge was a theme reechoed by all the speakers during the occasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the Brixton mosque the delegation met with the mosque leaders including the Chief Imam Sheikh Dr. Faisal Boadi
The leaders of the mosque were visibly delighted at the kind gesture from the High Commission with one of the imams pointing out that they have not seen a delegation from the High Commission since the days of president Ahmed Tejan Kabba. They encouraged the High Commission to increase such community engagements as soon as the pandemic recedes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
