Last night, Saturday, October 12th, 2024, the Arena of Glory in Charlton was filled with excitement and purpose as Sierra Leone\u2019s celebrated gospel musician Vicky Fornah hosted a charity fundraiser in support of the ongoing construction of an International Music Academy in Sierra Leone.<\/p>\n

The event, which saw a strong turnout from the Sierra Leonean community in the U.K., was graced by the presence of H.E. Dr. Morie Manyeh, the High Commissioner of Sierra Leone, and Mrs. Yvonne King Odigboh, the Deputy High Commissioner. Both dignitaries showed their unwavering support for Fornah\u2019s efforts, which aim to promote the arts and develop young musical talent in Sierra Leone through the establishment of the academy.<\/p>\n

The evening\u2019s master of ceremonies was none other than Sierra Leonean music legend Collins Pratt, whose presence energized the crowd. The fundraiser also featured appearances from a number of prominent figures in Sierra Leonean entertainment, including Abdul Gbla, famed for his songs \u201cSoda Soap,\u201d and \u201cRiding Omolanke\u201d, alongside musicians from countries across the Mano River Union.<\/p>\n
