This evening, senior officials of the Sierra Leone High Commission held a highly productive engagement with representatives of UK-based Sierra Leone Alumni Associations at the Chancery building, 41 Eagle Street, Holborn. Among officials present were the Deputy High Commissioner, Yvonne King Odigboh, and the Head of Chancery, Juliana Sia Hawa Fallah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting brought together representatives from 21 alumni associations, spanning schools across the length and breadth of Sierra Leone, in a unified effort to support national development through education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Education continues to serve as a central pillar of Sierra Leone\u2019s national development agenda, as championed by His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once widely known as the Athens of West Africa, Sierra Leone boasts a proud and enduring educational pedigree, one that current national efforts are seeking to revitalise and strengthen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today\u2019s discussions in the chancery focused on identifying key challenges and exploring practical solutions aimed at strengthening collaboration and enhancing diaspora support for Sierra Leone\u2019s commendable educational revival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sierra Leone\u2019s alumni associations in the United Kingdom are recognised as vital partners in the country\u2019s development. Their practical  commitment; through organising events, raising funds, and supporting targeted interventions, continues to play an important role in improving conditions in their respective schools back home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The breadth and depth of the discussions reflected both the expertise within the diaspora and a shared determination to work closely with the High Commission to deliver meaningful impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From addressing disability inclusion in schools to fostering strategic partnerships that can accelerate progress in the education sector, the exchanges were frank, insightful, and forward-looking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
