The Sierra Leone High Commission in the United Kingdom, led by His Excellency Dr. Morie Komba Manyeh, joined members of the Limba community, supporters and well-wishers on the evening of Saturday, 15 August 2026, for the *10th anniversary celebration of Mabohanday UK&I*, marking a decade of unity, culture and community service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mabohanday UK&I 10th Anniversary Dinner & Dance, held at the Selby Centre on Selby Road in North London, brought the community together for an evening celebrating Limba cultural heritage, solidarity and achievement. Several chapter heads representing Mabohanday\u2019s 11 existing chapters also participated in the milestone celebration, reflecting the organisation\u2019s wider network and shared commitment to unity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing a packed hall, Dr. Manyeh commended Mabohanday UK&I for the impressive organisation of the event and praised the Limba community for its resilience, peaceful outlook and commitment to community cohesion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The High Commissioner highlighted the strong bonds among Sierra Leoneans of different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, pointing to his own close relationship with the Limba community as an example of ties that transcend ethnic identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI believe that no man should be adversely judged by the colour of the clothes he wears or the shape of the shoes on his feet,\u201d Dr. Manyeh remarked, emphasising the importance of Sierra Leoneans working together to strengthen peace and solidarity, in spite of any superficial differences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He stressed that meaningful national development could only flourish in an atmosphere of peace and unity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe can\u2019t have development without peace, and we can\u2019t have peace without unity,\u201d he maintained, calling on Sierra Leoneans at home and in the diaspora to continue promoting peace and strengthening community cohesion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The anniversary celebration showcased the richness of Limba hospitality and cultural heritage, featuring captivating dance routines and a brilliant array of traditional attire, all reflecting a decade of unity and excellence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the cultural attractions was the mystical *Matorma* masquerade, while a major highlight of the evening was the unveiling of Chief Dino Samura as the Mabohanday UK&I Tribal Chief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mabohanday, a Limba word meaning \u201ccoming together\u201d, places unity and giving at the heart of its work. Its UK&I Chairman, Mr. Lamin Bangura, also underscored the organisation\u2019s non-political character, explaining that Mabohanday is all about bringing people together, promoting unity, celebrating culture, and supporting communities through charitable and educational initiatives. He highlighted some of the organisation\u2019s work over the years, including donating books to schools, providing scholarships to students, constructing community water wells and supplying medical materials to hospitals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last night\u2019s event provided an opportunity to celebrate Mabohanday UK&I\u2019s decade-long journey and its contribution to cultural preservation, community building and charitable service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joining High Commissioner Manyeh at the occasion were other High Commission staff including Deputy High Commissioner Mrs. Yvonne King Odigboh and Head of Chancery Mrs. Juliana Sia Hawa Fallah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The milestone celebration ultimately carried a message beyond the anniversary itself, that Sierra Leone\u2019s diversity remains a source of strength when its people come together in mutual respect and work collectively to advance peace, unity and national development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
