There is no doubt that our world is changing; and changing fast, before our very eyes .
Faced with multiple evidences that threaten to seal our fates, the scientific consensus is clear and conclusive: the planet is heating up at an accelerating rate as mankind keeps pumping out Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and other halogenated ozone-depleting substances (ODS) into the fragile atmosphere and speedily destroying the ozone layer. The simple straightforward interpretation is that by our actions and inactions we are rolling this big round ball called planet Earth into the boiling bellies of a flaming pit. And we are rolling down with it. The message is that if we do not act positively and act fast to reverse the current trend our collective doom is an inevitability that would become a reality sooner than we may believe to be possible. There is no fairytale ending if humans refuse to be fair to themselves and to the only world in which we all live.

The COP26 UN Global Climate Change Conference is a coming together of key players in different sectors to work on concrete agendas and produce answers aimed at making the planet not just a liveable space but a desirable place for mankind and for all of the different occupants of the earth.
This is the centre goal of COP26.
At this yearโs leadersโ summit HE president Julius Maada Bio made a televised statement to the conference and to the world. In that speech the president committed Sierra Leone to working together with the global community in ensuring that the worst effects of Climate Change are contained.
The president highlighted the various steps that his government is taking in the fight to combat the climate problem, including adopting robust national policies and establishing a stand-alone ministry of the Environment to implement strategies in the interest of a healthy liveable and resilient environment.
President Bio also underlined the hurdles faced by, especially, third world countries as the world works towards reducing our collective carbon footprints and accelerating the movement towards achieving the set goals of the Paris Agreement.
On the sides of the main meetings, His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio also engaged with business executives and held bilateral meetings with other world leaders to help promote Sierra Leoneโs national interests in different areas of economic and political cooperation.
The conference which ends on 12 November 2021 is seamlessly unfolding with sectoral meetings and specialist presentations on the various aspects surrounding the centre theme- what to do to make the sun glow less warmer and the world grow that much Greener!
