Today, the Minister Plenipotentiary and Head of Chancery, Mrs Juliana Sia Hawa Fallah, led a delegation from the Sierra Leone High Commission on a courtesy visit to Councillor Eddie Hindolo Hanson, Mayor of the London Borough of Camden.

This visit builds on earlier high-level engagements led by His Excellency Dr Morie Komba Manyeh, High Commissioner, and Mrs Yvonne King Odigboh, Deputy High Commissioner, reflecting the High Commission’s continued commitment to strengthening ties with Camden.
The meeting, held at Camden Town Hall, focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, exploring partnership opportunities, and deepening institutional engagement between the Sierra Leone High Commission and Camden Council.
Camden, one of London’s most vibrant and diverse boroughs, is home to major cultural institutions, key transport hubs, leading academic centres, and a healthy multicultural population. Its strategic position and international outlook make it an important centre for civic and diplomatic engagement within the capital.
Mayor Hanson, a celebrated son of Sierra Leone and the first Black Mayor of African descent to hold the office in Camden, warmly welcomed the delegation.
He spoke with pride about his heritage and expressed gratitude to both God and the people of Camden for entrusting him with the responsibility of such a prominent borough.
In his remarks, the Mayor described Camden as “the heartbeat of London,” highlighting its cultural diversity and the strength of its communities. He also reflected on his personal journey in public service, noting that effective leadership requires resilience, self-belief, and a clear sense of purpose. He further emphasised that kindness, humility, and consistency are essential values for achieving lasting impact in public life.
First Secretary, Mr Mohamed Kapu Lungay, explained that the purpose of the visit was to formally introduce the Head of Chancery to the Mayor, while also laying the foundation for sustained collaboration between the High Commission and Camden Council. He underscored the importance of building long-term institutional relationships to support community development and diaspora engagement.

Mrs Fallah, in her remarks, expressed appreciation for the Mayor’s achievements and commended his inspiring journey in public service. She noted his inspiring leadership stands as a source of pride for the Sierra Leonean community and a testament to perseverance, dedication, and excellence in the pursuit of life’s valuable goals.
Counsellor Patricia Kamara delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude for the warm reception and reaffirming commitment to continued engagement. She highlighted the importance of cooperation and the need to maintain a strong and constructive working relationship moving forward.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both parties expressing optimism about future collaboration and shared initiatives between the Sierra Leone High Commission and the London Borough of Camden.
Before their departure, the delegation was taken on a guided tour of the Council Chamber and key facilities within the Town Hall.
