Minister Emily Gogra attends a crucial meeting on Free School Meals, in Finland!

Mrs. Emily K. Gogra, the dynamic Deputy Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, has ably represented Sierra Leone at “the First Ministerial Meeting of the School Meals Coalition – Helsinki 2022” during which she delivered an eloquent presentation feelingly touching on the needs of Sierra Leonean children. She explained to her audience the steps government is taking to help address some of those needs and highlighted areas in which development partners could assist the process.

It should be noted that the government of H.E. President Julius Maada Bio is working, assiduously, with relevant international partners, across the globe, in its determined bid to support and sustain all areas of the national policy endeavour, including the School feeding programme.
Joint efforts along that line are considered to be particularly desirable during this grave period of global cost of living crisis.

The school feeding programme is a welcomed means to ensure a sustained and healthy school attendance and to help strengthen the government’s overall Human Capital Development policy initiative.

Just last week a solid contingent of Sierra Leonean ministers and senior departmental officers attended an intensive three-day Sierra Leone-Finnish summit in Helsinki, which closely looked into various areas of potential cooperation between the two countries, including key sectors such as Healthcare, Fishery, Tourism, School Meals and Teacher Training programmes.
