
On Sunday, 20th July 2025, the Deputy High Commissioner, Mrs. Yvonne King Odigboh, accompanied by her husband, Mr. Celestine Odigboh, attended the opening of the Distinguished Sisters’ community event at Kennington Park, South East London.

Distinguished Sisters (DS) is a grassroots initiative dedicated to empowering girls and women in Sierra Leone through social engagement and agricultural projects. The event brought together members of the Sierra Leonean community and supporters of women’s empowerment to showcase the impact of DS programs and encourage continued support for gender-focused development initiatives.

Speaking at the event, Mrs. Odigboh commended the organization’s work, stating: “Empowering women and girls is central to building a stronger and more inclusive Sierra Leone. Initiatives like Distinguished Sisters play a vital role in creating opportunities, fostering independence, and driving sustainable development.”
